Hello everyone! Today I'm going to talk a bit about keeping your rabbit entertained, so basically about toys and such for your bunny. Why give my rabbit toys? Do they need them?Yes, I believe rabbits do need toys. Why? Toys are a safe way for a rabbit to exercise and have some fun, which keeps their minds and bodies healthy. Rabbits love to explore, dig, chew, throw stuff around and so on. They enjoy it, it gives them something to do and it keeps them entertained. Toys are also a diversion, instead of destroying their feed dish or chewing on the wire (which can ruin their teeth), maybe they'll chew on a toy that's meant for that purpose instead. As for house rabbits, it can prevent them from destroying stuff inside, like furniture, tables, and anything else they can chew or scratch that they aren't supposed to. Also, because rabbits teeth grow forever they need something safe to chew on to help keep their teeth filed down. And while you may not see your bunny playing with toys very often, they definitely do. Rabbits are often awake during the night, when you're not there. If you have a house rabbit, you know this because they sure can keep you awake if they're in your room! I've also seen rabbits that didn't have many toys before, or didn't have the same toys they had when they were with me, come back to me and get super excited and instantly start throwing stuff around and playing. So what type of toys can bunnies have? There are SO many different toys you can make or buy for your rabbits. Get creative! Just make sure it is safe for your bunny to play with and chew on before you give it to them. Here are some ideas:
Check out the photos below for examples of toys or bunnies enjoying toys! Photos are mine unless stated otherwise. Thanks for reading! If you have any questions or know of any toys or toy ideas that weren't listed, leave a comment! I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for new ways to entertain my bunnies without spending a ton of money on toys.
